Phoenix Private Academy FAQ

Phoenix Private Academy offers Grades K - 8 programs to students with autism, learning disabilities, anxiety, depression, down syndrome, ADD/ADHD and students who experience other academic and/or social difficulties in main stream education. In order for the admission to be completed, each student is assessed and recommendations are offered to parents/guardians about a suitable grade level and programming.  Please note that Phoenix Private Academy may obtain an academic and behavioural history from your child's previous school to help determine placement and programming. This permission is requested during the intake process from our intake coordinator. Parents/guardians are encouraged to provide all assessments and documentation that could help our staff become better acquainted with the student. Phoenix enrolment is limited to ensure small teacher to student ratios. Students are placed according to skill and grade level, while also considering how to best facilitate social growth and development among peers. Once the client intake form is completed, our executive assistant will contact you to arrange a meeting with our principal.

We meet our students where they are academically and socially, teaching them the skills needed for success. We look at each student’s strengths and needs to create IEPs, helping to build skills at the student’s pace. We are adept at accommodating existing Ontario curriculum and learning expectations. We provide academic and transitional classes and integrated ABLLS-r programming to better meet each student’s unique needs. We accentuate the positive and pride ourselves on building affirming relationships with our students, helping them gain self-esteem and the motivation to work and thrive. We offer small classrooms where instructors can cater to each child’s needs. We teach crucial emotional regulation and self-care skills. We have a large, multi-disciplinary trained staff and have built partnerships with community agencies to provide enriching experiences for our students. We provide IBI services & summer camp programs for those interested in yearlong learning opportunities.

We recommend filling out our Client Intake Form prior to submitting an inquiry to Phoenix Private Academy should you wish to set up a meeting with our Principal right away. Our school runs from 9:00am - 3:30pm. Students are permitted to start arriving at 8:45am. We do offer additional services such as before and after school care for an additional cost. Before school and afterschool must be arranged at registration if needed on a consistent basis, or with 24 hours for before care. This service is based on staff availability and can be discussed with our Executive Assistant during the intake process.
